Grandpa's Scarf

I decided to make my Grandpa a scarf for Christmas and settled on the Irish Hiking Scarf from Hello Yarn. After knitting in to it for awhile I realized it was too wide for a SC winter. I re-vamped it to fit what I wanted as well as I hated the garter stitch edge. I decided to post the alterations. Pic will come soon. Original pattern can be found Here.

New pattern--
worsted weight yarn, I used Plymouth Encore
size 8 needles (i find circ to be better than straight needles)
cable needle or DP

Cast on 32 ST
Row 1 (WS) p3, k3, p6, k3, p2, k3, p6, k3, p3
Row 2 (RS) k3, p3, k6, p3, k2, p3, k6, p3, k3
